Our Week :: 8/3-8/9

Meghan has started working on spoon skills independently - she's MESSY! But we keep trying...

She loves doing "school" - any activities that have a learning component or challenges her intellect and motor skills she LOVES! She asks for school repeatedly through the day. This day, she was practicing stringing large beads. It was complex to manage inserting the pegged end of the string and switching which hand was holding the bead to pull it through - but she kept working and figured it out!

She loves flashcards! I spread the out all over the floor and she brings me the pictures that I ask for. She absolutely loves this activity and is learning lots of new vocabulary as a result.

This is her "I don't know" stance. When she doesn't see the word I asked for, she does her hands like this and says "eh?"

We did quite a bit of playing outside at the end of the week. She enjoyed splashing, transferring, and dumping water!

She figured out "steering" on her play structure and had a lot of fun spinning the steering wheel.

She also enjoyed picking weeds and grass tops to trot around the yard with. She walked all over with them waving them in the breeze.

She also enjoyed climbing up her slide.

She helped Mama water some of the plants - she did a great job of dumping the water right into the pot and then checked into the can to be sure that it was empty.

I brought out her primary pattern blocks and she has been enjoying them. She loves collecting the shapes by type - especially the circles. She loves naming them.

Meghan ate our sausage meatballs with honey mustard! Generally she avoids all "wet" foods - a distinction that has taken quite a bit of time for me to understand. It has always meant no dips (which are an easy way to add calories!). This was an awesome night for her!

We took her 18 month pictures this weekend. She did not want to "pose" the first day, but enjoyed reading her K-State alphabet book from Uncle Jordan. So sweet! I will share the rest of the pictures soon - a little bit closer to 18 months :)

And....I finally remembered to take a picture of the cross-stitch. Here's where it stands:

Our Week :: 7/26 - 8/2

While she's not a big breakfast eater, Meghan loves our new recipe for gluten free pancakes!

She also really enjoys wearing Daddy's boxers.

This day she was just standing next to me staring off as though thinking hard about something....she's just such a pretty toddler!

Haha! I had forgotten she was wearing a onesie when I asked her where her belly button was!

She has been loving sorting buttons into these colored cups. She also enjoys pouring them back and forth between the cups.

She also has been enjoying putting buttons into an ice cube tray.

We went to the fair near the end of the week! Meghan loved all of the farm animals. She wanted to pet them all! I had to hold her through the entire cattle barn because all she wanted to do was pet them!

She loved running around in her cowgirl boots and petting the goats!

I eventually got a picture of us together....but she wouldn't look! There was a cow eating...

When I finally got her to look at the camera, she gave her awkward posed smile....which I love!

She loved being around all of the farm animals. She made all of their noises back at them....one of her favorites was the pig. She squatted and snorted back at him over and over!!!

Our Week :: 7/19 - 7/25

Grandpa Dale stayed with us for a few days last week and Meghan enjoyed getting to play with his dog Buddy. They enjoyed sitting and watching out the front door together.

Meghan is loving flashcards. She enjoys the touch and feel textures of these cards. She likes to label things she sees, pick a word we say out of two, or find a word we say from amongst the cards sprawled out across the whole floor. This girl also knows the difference between a combine and a tractor....important skills in the city :)

We got our first ripe peaches off of the tree this week. Meghan has always refused to eat the canned peaches we would offer them - we're assuming because of the texture. These fresh peaches, however, she inhaled!

She has been interested in bananas recently - she eats very little of them, but they are a food she used to refuse due to the texture.

This week we went to the Farmer's Market and a park. The park is designed for lots of climbing by big kids.....but she loves playing around the equipment anyways. Her sweetness is just amazing!

She found an acorn!

Meghan enjoys working on a task at the counter while I am working in the kitchen. This day she was sorting buttons into cups based on whether they were red or blue - then she did lots of practicing of pouring between two cups.

Our cucumber plant has been producing like crazy - like we've canned 11 quarts, eaten several, and still have given away at least 30! Meghan is obsessed with biting on them (especially since she's teething). This day she went after the cucumber and actually at a few inches down before admitting defeat!

We finger painted for the first time. She enjoyed it quite a bit and was enthusiastic about making the paint move around the paper!

She has been enjoying using her farm animal puzzle pieces as toys to play farm in her playroom.....I think it's so cute! While I'm working elsewhere I can hear her out there making all sorts of animal sounds :)

Some pictures from when Meghan was helping me on Saturday night - she had super messy hair, but was just being so cute!

And for your viewing pleasure....some video excitement!!
