Our Week :: 8/3-8/9

Meghan has started working on spoon skills independently - she's MESSY! But we keep trying...

She loves doing "school" - any activities that have a learning component or challenges her intellect and motor skills she LOVES! She asks for school repeatedly through the day. This day, she was practicing stringing large beads. It was complex to manage inserting the pegged end of the string and switching which hand was holding the bead to pull it through - but she kept working and figured it out!

She loves flashcards! I spread the out all over the floor and she brings me the pictures that I ask for. She absolutely loves this activity and is learning lots of new vocabulary as a result.

This is her "I don't know" stance. When she doesn't see the word I asked for, she does her hands like this and says "eh?"

We did quite a bit of playing outside at the end of the week. She enjoyed splashing, transferring, and dumping water!

She figured out "steering" on her play structure and had a lot of fun spinning the steering wheel.

She also enjoyed picking weeds and grass tops to trot around the yard with. She walked all over with them waving them in the breeze.

She also enjoyed climbing up her slide.

She helped Mama water some of the plants - she did a great job of dumping the water right into the pot and then checked into the can to be sure that it was empty.

I brought out her primary pattern blocks and she has been enjoying them. She loves collecting the shapes by type - especially the circles. She loves naming them.

Meghan ate our sausage meatballs with honey mustard! Generally she avoids all "wet" foods - a distinction that has taken quite a bit of time for me to understand. It has always meant no dips (which are an easy way to add calories!). This was an awesome night for her!

We took her 18 month pictures this weekend. She did not want to "pose" the first day, but enjoyed reading her K-State alphabet book from Uncle Jordan. So sweet! I will share the rest of the pictures soon - a little bit closer to 18 months :)

And....I finally remembered to take a picture of the cross-stitch. Here's where it stands:
