June at Our Home

A quick, visual, overview of our month....

Katie is quite a good sleeper, especially for her young age! She likes to sleep on her belly because it helps with her reflux - she's a very spitty baby.

After holding her to sleep during the "witching hours" in the evening, I laid her down in the pack n play and she stayed so sweetly asleep.

Meghan has been enjoying some school play...this day she was following directions and putting farm animals on a farm play mat.

The K'Tan carrier is a favorite place for Katie. Meghan loved it too. They both fall pretty quickly to sleep when tucked inside and wrapped up tightly against Mommy.

Katie enjoys looking at the black and white pictures in her books.

Another "witching hour" picture....Katie falls asleep best with a blanket up against her face. During the witching hour she typically needs to sleep downstairs and naps off and on.

Some sweet faces that were the start of this little girl learning to smile.....

Meghan has "given up" naps. But still enjoys laying with her bedding during her afternoon playtime in her room. As will be seen later, she also ends up sleeping for a while a few days a week.

She was so sweet wearing Curious George in the Ergo like Mommy carries Baby Katie.

Sweet baby Katie.

She, again like Meghan, is curious about how it is that the swing works. As the month went on she started sleeping less and less in the swing because she was too busy trying to figure out how it works!

Almost time for bed...hanging out in her high chair.

I just love sleeping baby pictures...

Curious little girl looking around while in her bouncy seat.

Meghan has been enjoying reading these books that show a word and then when you lift the flap show a picture of the word. She has an insatiable appetite for learning and reading.

More black and white pictures...she loves them!

Playing the sight word game - we spread word cards out on the floor and she looks for the one that I name. This game works especially well when I am feeding little sister.

A little smirk.

She was "in shower" using the diaper changing mat as a "blue towel like Mommy." She even wrapped her hair in it like I do.

More "school" fun pictures.

Looking at the backs of the feathers on her peacock - they are black and white patterns and she loves them!

A bunny has moved into our yard and enjoys eating the clover. Meghan loves watching it eat the clover in the mornings.

More "school" fun...this girl loves doing school!

She told me that she was just taking a little nap. On her baby doll's pillow :)

Adorkable - so says her bib.

Looking so cute in her new jumper from Mimsie!

Smiles incoming! This girl is becoming a smiley baby!!

Meghan showing off her awesome sense of style....sparkly puppy purse, watermelon rainboots, and striped jammies!

Despite having given up naps, Meghan ends up taking a nap during her roomtime a few days a week. I love the different places and positions we find her sleeping in!

She is starting to sleep with "Penelope" when she's in her swing or carseat - hopefully this will make her a comforting person to have in her crib when she's a few months older and we start letting her have a "lovey" in the crib with her.

SMILES!!

More roomtime naps:

I found this matching game in the dollar spot at Target and she has been enjoying matching the beginning and ends of words.

She hasn't been very into coloring recently so one afternoon when she wanted to color I was so excited to pull our our coloring supplies!

She loves reading books. She has also started really enjoying non-fiction books and learning about new topics while we read - laying a great groundwork for homeschooling.

This pretty girl is chunking up! She has started thoroughly enjoying playtime on the floor.

She loves carrying lots of "bags" around - we now have an entire bin of bags and purses in her playroom - she is definitely my kid and enjoys carrying things around with her!

Something was fascinating - we weren't sure what it was, but she COULD NOT look away!

This baby girl has all kinds of smiles to share! Her smiles just light up the day!!

I gave Meghan a stack of silicone muffin cups in rainbow colors to play with one day - they have quickly become a very favorite toy for stacking, sorting, and all sorts of exciting "games."

Meghan ate spaghetti for the first time - and loved it! She ate several bowls full - feeding them to herself - and enjoyed the experience immensely! She also enjoyed fettuccine alfredo!

Meghan has been copying more and more of the things that she sees me doing while I take care of Katie. This day, her feeding and burping was so funny as the lego baby is so small:

Meghan loves imaginative play - and that often involves a large amount of her toys - and they all get brought to the family room. I have worked hard to become "okay" with the mess that is made when my girl imagines. I love how she uses her toys to play creatively and am coming to accept that the process involves a whole lot of mess - it did when I was little, too :) I took a picture of our mess one day....it's hard to see how big the mess was, and if you look closely, you can see the little bit of floor space I was able to carve out for Katie :)

Katie has started to figure her hands out....she wasn't sure exactly how she was doing it, but she figured out that she could make the orange owl move and make noise when she moved her arms around. I'm excited to watch her further explore her arms and hands in the next month!

A video of Katie kicking and cooing:

And one of Meghan playing her abacus (she calls it her guitar) and singing "God is love."
