Our Week :: August 22-28

If you're ever looking for Meghan, you can usually find her laying or sitting down somewhere with a pile of books. Her current favorites are the Maple Hill Farm books - we read them over and over all day long!!

This was her cheesy smile when we were getting ready to build a shelving unit for "oranizing" in Katie's room...she's my kid and loves to help with organizing projects.

Cute smile as she looked outside at me - I was taking pictures of a current project outside while we were waiting on a storm to roll in and she thought I was kind of crazy!

This one loves to talk. Loudly....

This pictures makes me smile...I kind of like polka dots, can you tell?

She's really enjoying this toy as it's easy to get to her mouth and suck on.

More reading. Always reading. This mama is so very proud of her little book lover!!

Someone has also learned how to roll to the side which is helpful for getting her hands and/or toys to stay in her mouth while she plays on the floor.

Meghan worked on coloring in the lines for the first time. She really enjoyed the activity and doing "school." She improved greatly just in the six shapes on the page.

Meghan was engaged in some intense play. I took a few pictures of the things I saw her doing. I love how well she can slip into her own world and just play games out of her imagination!

One year ago, we found out that this princess (though we didn't know she was a girl yet!) was on her way!

The girls and I had a super successful thrifting trip this week...this cute mushroom house dress was one of the things I found and I knew I had to get some pictures of Katie in it. The top picture shows just how long her hair is; however, it still will not lay down. It sticks straight up just like Cole's used to. The bottom picture shows her big happy smile! She is a whole mouth smiler :)

More reading about Maple Hill Farm. This time with Daddy :)

I purchased some jeans for her - two sizes bigger than her current size. She put them on and was so excited that they "fit". In this picture she is clapping and cheering because she is so excited to have new jeans....she had no idea that they were just too big for her :)

Our Week :: August 15 - 21

Katie has become very busy scooting! She can wiggle her body sideways and she can also push on her feet to move backwards. In the time it took me to go get her a clean onesie, she moved from the left side of her burp cloths to where she is in this picture - she's so proud!

Beautiful temperatures have begun to return to Kansas! Expect lots of outside pictures in the next few weeks. We have TONS of work that needs done outside right now (literally, tons of mulch need moved in that list...) and Meghan is LOVING all of the playtime and nature exploration time she is getting as a result!

Singing "b-a-n-a-n-a-s" to Katie - except she sings "a-n-a-n-a-n-a-n. go neenahs!" So cute!

This girl is fun. She is pretty. She is strong willed. And she is wonderful.

This girl is starting to master holding onto toys and moving them to her mouth when we help her grasp them. She has also decided that she does not want to be in the pack-n-play during playtime, she wants to be on a quilt on the floor in the middle of all of the action. She has also decided that she does not want to be rocked more than 2-3 minutes before naps; she wants laid in her crib to suck her fingers to sleep by herself. It's been a big week this week!

Meghan has memorized the Baby Lit books that we have. This is her reading them to Daddy (in her bib cape!).

We spent more time outside over the weekend - this time Katie came out with us. She seems to love being outside - as long as she's under a blanket (she hates to be cold) and not in direct sunlight she is completely happy to just sit in her rock-n-play for several hours and look around. She doesn't fuss AT ALL! It's amazing how much the outdoors seem to speak to her just as they do to her Mama and sister.

She noticed that there were five holes in this leaf - just like the Very Hungry Caterpillar at before making a cocoon and becoming a butterfly!

My first picture of them together! I noticed they matched and Meghan was willing to hold Katie finally. SO AWESOME!!

After church, Meghan told me, "Meghan making lunch today, Mommy. Meghan cooking it."

Wedding Weekend Pictures

This past weekend we attended my cousin Kallie's wedding. Meghan was the flower girl and absolutely loved her job!!

I don't have many pictures from the wedding day, but I am hoping to get some from my parents. Here are the pictures that I have so far from our weekend:

Her first practice walk down the aisle was a full-on sprint!

She was so proud of her flowers!

Her second practice walk down the aisle was slow and steady.

Family enjoyed time holding baby Katie:

My big girl and I:

Katie was super tired and conked out in her pack-n-play when we returned to the hotel. Unfortunately, after midnight she would only sleep when being held by an upright sitting Mama.

Meghan enjoyed using her MagnaDoodle as a telephone and even made sure to charge it.

Katie Grace slept through the wedding on Mimsie's shoulder.

It's not a great picture at all, but I have a picture of me with my girls! This is just not a phase of life where I expect to get amazing pictures :)

The girls had fun at the wedding, this was my view in the back of the car on the way back to the hotel:
